You wanna? You wanna vote? Get Me Out. Get Me Out. 00:00:32

And put a. 00:00:49
Move their fueling station out on. 00:00:50
Onto a dock also, and put some walkways in. 00:00:52
Making me some transient docks and boat launch. 00:00:55
Off some floating walkways with already have floating walkways, but they flood when it rains. 00:00:58
So I'll be raising that up. 00:01:02
Ohh. 00:01:04
Some boat returned docks and aided. 00:01:05
Nine additional wet slips. 00:01:07
For rental. 00:01:09
This is what the Marina looks like now. 00:01:11
Hmm. 00:01:13
And this is the proposed all the Reds proposed. 00:01:15
What I want to do is all meets the best practices. 00:01:19
We have had one issue where they're getting close to a property line. I got them to take a slip off to shorten the pier. 00:01:22
Well, I can get them. 00:01:28
At least 15 to 18 feet off the property line for the Neighbors. 00:01:29
That's good, yeah. 00:01:37
So you're happy? I'm happy since we got them backed off the property line neighborhood. 00:01:38
Talked a little bit about how close to his peer, his peers dead on the line. 00:01:43
So I got him some space, so I'm happy with that. 00:01:47
OK. Any questions, Mr. Lafoy? 00:01:51
Thank you, Sir. 00:01:54
Mayor Maddox? Yes Sir. Coming up this Thursday we have our next town hall meeting. Will be in Mr. Laniers district. So it'll be 00:01:56
from six to seven. We had a 00:02:02
a great meeting, a longer than expected meeting and districts for districts one and two last week. 00:02:08
Both of y'all did a fantastic job and I know Mr. Lanier, you're having to go out of town unexpectedly and you'll be missed. So my 00:02:14
my common refrain is going to be I don't understand why that's not happening. This really near city is going to take. 00:02:20
I'll bring you back. 00:02:28
I understand, but you will be missed. But looking forward to that. It's Skyland Elementary and then our last will be catching 00:02:31
taste September 7th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. 00:02:36
And Mr. Tyner's battery? 00:02:42
So looking forward to it. Yes Sir. A couple of other quick things. First is the school parking tickets or parking tickets to pay 00:02:44
school supplies. 00:02:49
And don't get school parking tickets by the way either. It would be a nice note, but if you would like an opportunity to make a 00:02:54
difference in our community and possibly pay pay off of parking ticket, please consider doing this. I know our our team down in 00:03:01
Municipal Court. Jessica and her team members are doing a good job leading this as a way to get back to our kids. 00:03:07
And as I mentioned to you last week, as a parent it is expensive to send your children to school. 00:03:14
And. 00:03:20
There's a lot of families in our community that need help getting that backpack completely full and this is a good way of making 00:03:21
it. 00:03:25

This afternoon I will be presenting the fiscal year 24 budget. Look forward to doing that. We'll likely last about an hour. 00:03:33
Certainly I'll be thanking our staff during. 00:03:42
That time, but really very proud of this budget we're presenting to you and can't wait to share. 00:03:44
Two other quick things. One is I sent you a note regarding honoring 3 community members. 00:03:50
We will have that discussion next Tuesday in public safety. 00:03:56
I've been to. 00:04:03
Really for the last couple of months been informing you of where we were leaning. 00:04:04
Very excited about doing that. And then I sent to you also a proposed timeline that if you adopt that when we would look at 00:04:08
honoring. 00:04:12
Those individuals, So. 00:04:16
If you have any questions coming up this week, please let me know, but the formal process required by Council Ordinance begins. 00:04:18
Next Tuesday in Miss Howard's committee, so we will be presenting. 00:04:25
That to you and look forward to doing so. We're really excited about. That's the fun stuff. That's the exciting stuff. 00:04:29
And frankly, when you lead, when you read what these individuals have done for our city. 00:04:36
It just truly is astonishing. It makes you proud to call Tuscaloosa our home. 00:04:41
Last but certainly not least, as I text you earlier today on Thursday I'll be presenting. 00:04:46
To the Chamber of Commerce Public Affairs Committee here at City Hall at 3:30 on Thursday afternoon regarding. 00:04:52
The Internet sales tax, better known as SUT. 00:04:59
And so it's. 00:05:02
Really a lot of work that's been done by our team that I look forward to sharing. 00:05:04
If you get an opportunity, I'd love for the council to attend it. It is certainly it's an. It's a. 00:05:09
Revenue matter that today. 00:05:15
Doesn't pose a great problem for the city. 00:05:17
In five years, it will create an urgent problem. 00:05:20
If we do not begin getting that addressed, that's 24th. It is actually this coming Thursday. Ohh, it's this Thursday, this 00:05:25
Thursday. 00:05:29
And so at 3:30 in the council chambers. 00:05:34
And so I asked, actually asked for the meeting as an opportunity of the big 10 mayors are sharing this information. 00:05:37
With our local business communities. 00:05:44
And so I think you'll you'll find it very interesting. I know, Mr. Bell, I know you'll be on my team and I'll make certain that we 00:05:46
send you a PDF of the. 00:05:49
Presentation. It may be the most boring hour in your life, but yet it has everything to do with protecting Main Street and also 00:05:53
protecting public safety and everything else we do here at the city. That's all I have, Mr. Turner. Thank you very much, Mayor. 00:06:00
Chris, alright, come on. 00:06:08
Good afternoon, Council. 00:06:15
Just wanted to take a minute to introduce our newest supervisor, Travis Thompson. 00:06:18
So these are the faces, the guys that go out there today and talk to your constituents. We have issues. Travis is our newest one 00:06:23
and he's been with the city about 10 years. 00:06:28
Ohh yeah. Receives a crew of 20 and he does recycling and also handles our recycling plan operations. 00:06:33
More like introduce these two guys, even though they've been surprised a long time. I figured I'd introduce them while we were 00:06:39
here. 00:06:42
Reginald Smith been in the city about 21 years. He overseas our garbage operations and overseas about 25 men. 00:06:45
Troll Barnes, Heath, He's over our trash crews. He's been with the city 11 years and overseas about 42 of our men, so 86 million 00:06:52
combined. 00:06:55
Is what these guys oversee day-to-day environmental services. 00:07:00
Would y'all put a face with a name so when I'm talking to you all here in the week, you know who's going out? 00:07:04
I'm one of your best customers, particularly this week and last week. 00:07:08
Chris how? 00:07:15
Have y'all accelerated. 00:07:17
To pick up schedule during last week and this week. 00:07:20
Yes, Sir. We've all, especially on the trash side, you'll know what the UA move in. We've been accelerated on all aspects of 00:07:23
garbage, trash and recycling. So when we say accelerated, we're putting extra trucks in different locations at different times 00:07:29
that normally won't have that many. Troy Barnes is big on that. We have a. 00:07:35
Around 10 containers stays out around the campus area to handle the increase in volume there. 00:07:42
These supervisors rather routes if Reginald or Travis seasonal increase in their trash or meaning their garbage or their 00:07:49
recycling, will pull trucks and send them there. 00:07:53
After they completed their daily routes, thank you all it it makes a difference and people notice. 00:07:58
Holding up in the seat for the last 6-6 to 8 weeks. I know the heats been tremendous. How our team members holding up. 00:08:04
Yeah. 00:08:11
That's the only thing we provide for them. 00:08:12
Starting this year. So they really cool and really come on with it and we have a NFL puts out water there's certain people that 00:08:15
put out water form on their routes and they greatly appreciate that and Chris thank you you you you are you've come into a lot of 00:08:22
great work. I appreciate how how you're working. We have a situation in my district that you. 00:08:29
Took care of just you know, the matter of hours. I wanna thank y'all for what y'all do on a day-to-day basis. We need y'all you 00:08:36
know, just like we need every other. 00:08:41
Entity of our city. We need y'all it well, thank you. I want you to put a face with the night. 00:08:46
If you, if you don't. 00:08:52
If you want to get a cent drop if you hadn't been over between. 00:08:53
15th St. and University, Hackberry and Queen City. Go take a look. 00:08:59
But both on your armor plating because they are driving like Mad Men down there. 00:09:04
That your hours you send us out. The hours you're going to continue? 00:09:11
Yes, Sir. So you're around we will be doing 610 hour shifts starting at 6:00 AM year round instead of Labor Day we we would 00:09:16
usually switch to seven. 00:09:21
We're gonna keep it 6:00 AM year round for. 00:09:26
Consistency for all our citizen customers and Y'all's constituents. 00:09:30
But also to keep these guys out of. 00:09:33
The heavy traffic for school traffic at 7:00 AM. 00:09:36
It puts them in a safer work environment. Also it allows us to be a little bit more efficient. 00:09:39
And I. 00:09:44
I've had to remind myself and others to the. 00:09:44
For those who don't put the card out the night before. 00:09:48
If you get this, the next day is because it is an hour earlier. Sometimes you pick up, so let's get it out the night before the 00:09:51
best thing to do. 00:09:54
All right. So you don't have to go back somebody's house that we all know. 00:09:59
Thank you. Congratulations. Thank you. 00:10:04
Thanks guys. 00:10:08
Mr. Holmes, good afternoon, council afternoon. 00:10:11
I got just a short bit up here with you today. They're giving me a bit of a break. I am way down at the bottom of your first page, 00:10:16
where on page 6 you'll be seeing the cost for demolition of the structure at 3259 18th St. and authorizing the filing of a lien. 00:10:24
Then on page 7, you'll be saying the cost for demolition of the structure at 2005 Dinah Washington Ave. and authorizing the filing 00:10:32
lien. 00:10:37
And then skipping the item on page 8 that Mister McCoy went over will be on page nine we will be authorizing the City of Susa make 00:10:42
application. 00:10:46
To the US Department of Transportation for the fiscal Year 2023 Protect Planning grant and authorizing the mayor to execute the 00:10:50
same on behalf of the city that came from projects. 00:10:55
I believe that's actually doubled up in on projects today. Sorry, I had trouble believing that we were already to the 15th. 00:11:01
On page 10, you'll be authorizing the execution of agreements and related documents for various city events. This includes the 00:11:07
Mayor's Cup, Druid City Arts Festival, Farmers Market, Live at the Plaza, etcetera that was discussed with Miss Day on last week 00:11:13
on projects. 00:11:18
On page 11, you'll be authorizing termination of the master agreement and amendments #1 and two and three with JP Morgan Chase 00:11:25
Bank. This came from finance last week. 00:11:30
On page 12, you'll be authorizing the mayor to execute a Master commercial Card agreement. 00:11:37
With JP Morgan Chase Bank. This also was on Finance Committee last week. 00:11:42
On page 13, you'll be authorizing minor public works contract with Knight Sign Industries. This is a total of $10,540 and was on 00:11:47
projects last week. 00:11:52
On page 14, you'll be authorizing the purchase of equipment from MRI HETRA. This is a total of $60,102.28 for. 00:11:57
Power Mobile Column Lift System. This comes from the Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Fleet and Purchasing. 00:12:08
On page 15, you'll be authorizing the equipment, supplies, or services. That's a total of $2944. This is for fire station 00:12:15
improvements and again comes from purchasing. 00:12:22
On page 16, you'll be amending Exhibits A&B of the section of section 1942 of the Code of Tuscaloosa. This is for. 00:12:28
Water and sewer environmental services. 00:12:36
That was in admin on the 1st. 00:12:39
That is all I have on the agenda. We do have two short items for executive session today. 00:12:43
A quick question, Miss Sanders on page 14, how does that so that equipment, that $60,000 of fire equipment? 00:12:47
Is that? 00:12:55
The. The. 00:12:58
Account number down there, what is that? 00:13:00
It says funding required, yes, and then it's got a long account number there. 00:13:05
So that's our general Ledger account number. 00:13:09
Really the 1st 3 numbers are the ones telling about fund is from so 701 ARP fund. That's the ARP funding. 00:13:13
I can look up the Oregon object that's, but it's basically for the fleet, it's for fire state, for fire truck equipment. It's ARP 00:13:22
money that we've. 00:13:27
Set aside. 00:13:32
To expand on fire and police items, is that what it is? Ohh. On fire fleet items? Yeah. 00:13:34
He. He's. 00:13:41
So my push the buzzer to seat. He's up on his feet. Go ahead, Chief. 00:13:42
ARP money that was approved for us for fleet services, we're buying a lift that allows our. 00:13:48
Fleet officer to be able to raise a fire truck. 00:13:56
In the shop and be able to work under. 00:13:59
OK. And miss standard so the that. 00:14:01
That routes through. 00:14:04
Contracting or purchasing, it doesn't come to us as an US in finance. 00:14:06
As an item to be. 00:14:11
Reviewed so the budget was originally set in prior year fiscal year budget processes. 00:14:13
This is probably about a year and a half old from when it was originally budgeted. Alright, I got you. Thank you very much. 00:14:21
OK. 00:14:29
All right. Yeah, Projects 2:30 then the finance. 00:14:31
3:15 we'll have the mayor's budget. 00:14:35
We've brought popcorn presentation. We can. 00:14:38
It was ruled at one time you couldn't do that. 00:14:43
What was that Mayor DuPont band popcorn? 00:14:47
Because he said everywhere it was true. You thought your movie theater at one time, everybody was. 00:14:51
And and you could smell popcorn, popcorn and then go hang up on the wall. 00:14:58
All right. 00:15:07
Projects like the community development after the mayor's presentation. 00:15:08
Council Meeting 6. Planning and Zoning. 00:15:12
Monday at 5:00. 00:15:15
Alright, is there a? 00:15:18
Motion we go into executive session Motion Motion second Mr. Holmes. 00:15:20
Yes, Sir. As your City Attorney and attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Alabama, I can certify that this Executive 00:15:26
session is to discuss security plans, procedures, assessments, measures or systems, or the security or safety of person, 00:15:30
structures, facilities, or other infrastructures the public disclosure of which could reasonably be expected to be detrimental to 00:15:35
public safety or welfare. 00:15:40
OK. 00:15:45
We have motion second all in favor, we go into executive session say aye, aye. Any opposed? 00:15:45

structures, facilities, or other infrastructures the public disclosure of which could reasonably be expected to be detrimental to 00:15:35
public safety or welfare. 00:15:40
