The public projects Today's date is Tuesday, August the 8th, our first order. 00:00:00
Of businesses approval of our minutes. When committee members have reviewed, I would entertain. 00:00:06
A Motion to approve. 00:00:11
Seconded Any discussion all in favor say aye aye, opposed. 00:00:13
Minutes are approved. New business item number one is approval. 00:00:18
To enter into a minor public works contract with Knight Sign Industries for Park. 00:00:21
Signage. The total was $10,540, correct? And Brent, welcome. 00:00:27
Good afternoon, council. Good afternoon, Good afternoon. This is just like it says. We're just entering into a minor public works 00:00:33
contract with a night sign to change some signage at the park. It's going to be $10,540 and this is within budget. 00:00:39
What's the sign say? 00:00:47
It's just changing the wordage up on some of the signs out of the park. 00:00:49
It's just, well, what does it say? 00:00:53
Talk to you on that. 00:00:56
Exactly. You've been advised oh, oh, OK, withdrawal. 00:00:58
It's for Lady Busby Park. 00:01:07
Now we just ruined your surprise. 00:01:10
Showers. They come with it OK. I have no further questions. 00:01:14
No further questions. Are you sure? I I made a motion, Mr. Governor. 00:01:19
Select all. 00:01:23
Wow. Motion is approved. 00:01:27
Item number 2. The mastery of the old Blythe response. 00:01:32
And it was kind of cool. I don't think we've ever had an eating like that. Two years good for resolution authorizing execution of 00:01:37
agreements and related documents for the Mayor's Cup. 00:01:42
Druid City Arts Festival. 00:01:48
Farmers Market live at the Plaza Celebration on the River. 00:01:50
Like Tuscaloosa, Clean Up Day, Tech or Treat and Holidays on the Plaza. 00:01:53
Welcome, Kay. Did we leave anything out? No. That that should do me. Well, this is a request for resolution authorizing the 00:01:58
Director of Arts and Entertainment, the authority to execute agreements and related documents for these events. 00:02:04
Provided that the contracts are within budget, the services provided are compliant with Alabama bid law and the agreements are 00:02:11
related. 00:02:15
Documents or administratively approved by the City Attorney. You'll have previously approved this for 2023. 00:02:20
But we are able to now procure sponsorships going into 24 and beyond and so this allows us to go ahead and sign those contracts. 00:02:27
So we're just not limited. 00:02:38
To 2023. We're already working on 2024 sponsorships, so we just tried not to date it. 00:02:40
Questions from committee members OK, I'm I'm fine with authorizing the execution of agreements, but. 00:02:47
Where do we see how we're doing on these and what the budgets are? 00:02:53
I can, I can provide you the budgets. The budgets are in my budget for every one of these events. 00:02:58
And at any anytime, so in your budget are these broken out? 00:03:05
Some of them are, yes, some of them are. Some of them are not. Certain bucket for special events. 00:03:10
That will conglomerate some of these, but then others are separate out. The Mayors Cup is separated out through the arts festival 00:03:16
is separated out into its own. 00:03:20
But things like tech retreat are not. Yeah. And those I mean. 00:03:25
Touch like clean up day. No, we don't treat holidays on the Plaza maybe, I don't know, but so we can see those in your budget and 00:03:31
it'll show what we budget for the event and what we bring in as a result. OK, great. I don't have any further questions, any other 00:03:37
questions? 00:03:44
No, Sir. Entertain a motion so moved, second, moved and seconded. All in favor. Say aye aye. Motion is approved. 00:03:52
Item number three is approval for the annual renewal of the license agreement from the Department of our of the Army for the 00:03:58
Riverwalk River Market site. Tom. 00:04:03
Well, thank you. You're exactly right. That's what it is. We do this every year. We do this every year in August for that ends in 00:04:08
September. 00:04:12
So. 00:04:17
This is the River Market and the parking all along the River Market. From that we. 00:04:18
We have to do this license agreement the Army Corps because they own the property. 00:04:24
So moved. 00:04:28
2nd. 00:04:30
Any other discussion all in favor, say aye, aye. 00:04:32
So, Tom, our license. 00:04:37
Is. 00:04:39
From the Department of Law is with the Department of the Army. 00:04:39
Through the court? Yes Sir. 00:04:43
OK. 00:04:44
Engineers. 00:04:45
I I was. 00:04:48
I will hold that. 00:04:50
It reminds me of something. 00:04:53
Ohh. 00:04:55
Item number 4. 00:04:57
Is our ceasefire discussion. 00:04:58
I know Darren Smith is here and we appreciate him being here from Ceasefire and Lua. 00:05:01
I know you're here. 00:05:05
I. 00:05:07
I don't know what comments council has to make on part of this, but. 00:05:08
We had a. 00:05:12
I had a. 00:05:14
Meeting or I was part of a meeting with ceasefire the other day and. 00:05:15
There have been, you know, various problems that have happened and. 00:05:20
And I would say that. 00:05:23
No problem is to minimize anything that's happened, but I do think that since the beginning of some of these conversations we have 00:05:25
had. 00:05:28
Less incidents than we had when all this started several months ago, so. 00:05:32
I do think there's been a lot of progress made by Ceasefire, but also. 00:05:37
There's just been some major issues and that have happened and I want us to discuss this a little bit and. 00:05:40
The communication piece I I learned many, many years ago when I served on the. 00:05:46
School board with Harry Lee. The light Harry lay on there. Forget Harry. I always used to say communication and it's best. It's 00:05:51
bad. 00:05:53
And I do think that we can all. 00:05:56
Do as good a job as we can it communicate and things still aren't good. So I I do think that's been one of the major things. I 00:06:00
think Darren and then we're gonna try to address. I think he's gonna try to talk to us about it and then. 00:06:05
Well, would you been real involved with this? So I don't know how y'all want to. 00:06:10
You know, do do you want to kind of talk about, I'd love for Lou, Y'all to kind of talk about this conversation we had the other 00:06:14
day or we were talking about how the notifications were the things that we worked on to make better and then. 00:06:20
So council members will probably have some questions for y'all and. 00:06:26
Maybe some status updates during of of some of the major issues that we have. Afternoon, everyone. I'm Darren Smith, construction 00:06:29
manager, Ceasefire. 00:06:32
This addressing some of the Councilman Carlos issues, there we are. 00:06:38
The last couple of months, I would say we've had a few issues. Well, I'd say more than a few issues. 00:06:43
Yeah, we got we had to get slowed down in some neighborhoods for some things, but. 00:06:48
Since January, I think we've passed, we've placed over 50 miles of fiber optic cable just in the neighborhoods. 00:06:54
No, I know that it's actually more. 00:07:01
So in. 00:07:04
Our our projects were kind of loaded heavy. 00:07:07
From January through. 00:07:09
Say. 00:07:12
Gene. 00:07:13
So what? 00:07:14
The second-half we're we're, we're on a slowdown so. 00:07:15
Second-half of our projects coming up for 2023, we suspended them all but one project because we're bringing in a new design. 00:07:19
It would be less intrusive to neighbourhoods, smaller boxes. 00:07:27
Ohh. 00:07:30
So we just decided after we met with Louis Ourself and Councilman Crow, we just decided. 00:07:31
That that. 00:07:38
We would hold off. 00:07:39
Other than maybe 1 project we have left and it's very small project. 00:07:42
But we're gonna roll the knee design out 2024. It's a really. 00:07:45
Faster, Cleaner. 00:07:50
Application. 00:07:52
Smaller. Obviously, we still have to put it in the. 00:07:53
Right. 00:07:56
But. 00:07:57
It's faster, it's cleaner. 00:07:58
And. 00:08:00
At the end of the day, the residents. 00:08:02
You know, we gotta make them happy so, but. 00:08:04
So so we only have one project remaining. 00:08:07
For is for neighborhoods. 00:08:10
This year and then obviously we have our business. 00:08:12
Orders. 00:08:15
Alt scattered all through the sea. 00:08:17
We have business orders going on regular through the city, so we just completed up. 00:08:19
And another thing too, I want to bring up, and I brought up to Councilman Crow, Miss Lewis, Brian. 00:08:24
We had the school projects. It was on a deadline. 00:08:28
And I think we placed. 00:08:32
9 or 10 miles of fiber to the school systems, City Schools. 00:08:33
We're on a deadline to get that, to make that date and I think some in some of the past we had to take. 00:08:38
Skirted around some neighborhoods. 00:08:44
So return that that that call volume on the 311 came up. 00:08:46
But we met the dates from school systems, but still there's no excuse. 00:08:51
But today we. 00:08:54
I put in a new construction checklist for our neighborhoods. 00:08:57
So. 00:09:01
So I think she's got slot. 00:09:04
So that I present lists. 00:09:05
Lose the engineer's office in any Councilman who whoever wants that's kind of, this is kind of what we went over. Yes, right. And 00:09:08
yes, it's just a lot. Yeah. So it's it's communication checklist, basically. 00:09:13
It just goes through tell you our processes through a project. 00:09:18
And we implemented one thing. 00:09:22
I think the last couple of days I was talking with Lou, so. 00:09:26
What it is? 00:09:29
Ohh, we canvas our neighborhoods. 00:09:30
OK. 00:09:33
We have a marketing guy. He goes around. 00:09:34
He hangs door hangers. 00:09:36
And I gave Councillor Crow. I got, you know, so. 00:09:38
That information request. 00:09:41
OK, we hang door hangers and we put my mailers in the. 00:09:42
In the middle. 00:09:47
Alright, so. 00:09:48
It's a 50% whole point of the project, or the halfway point. 00:09:50
We're going to go back through. 00:09:54
And do a recanvass our marketing team is. 00:09:56
Different resident interaction. 00:09:58
And any issues that we had? 00:10:00
So that's that's that's in this right here as well so. 00:10:02
And it would also we have a our. 00:10:06
Contact number on there it'll it's a. 00:10:08
24 hour line. 00:10:12
The it's a 205 number. There it is right there. 00:10:16
The residents can call in. 00:10:18
We want them to do that because we respond to that 24 hours, we get that ticket. 00:10:21
So much on it. 00:10:24
So anyway. 00:10:25
Like Louis, maybe we're going to. 00:10:28
Only 311 system maybe drive some of that. 00:10:30
To that number right there to reduce the call while on the 3rd. 00:10:33
So. 00:10:37
Ohh. 00:10:38
But. 00:10:39
Next year we're looking, we're looking forward with a new application. 00:10:41
I think you'll it's it'll be positive. 00:10:45
And. 00:10:48
We're as as I told Councilman crowd we're committed to city Tuscaloosa. I mean we. 00:10:51
I think all total in the last two years I think we've put in over. 00:10:57
150 miles of fiber and. 00:11:02
So close area. 00:11:05
And I'll talk about marketing team this morning and. 00:11:08
With. 00:11:13
From Baldwin County to Montgomery County. 00:11:14
Dothan AL Tuscaloosa It's down as as far as on the residential side. 00:11:18
Neighborhoods we are. I think we're booked out all the way to the end of September. 00:11:22
On service hours. 00:11:26
So. 00:11:27
And it's like anything you. 00:11:29
It's got a saturated set awhile. 00:11:30
And then, you know, maybe someone gets it and then it, you know, going on and on. 00:11:33
But we're really, we're really doing really well. Let's see Tuscaloosa, so. 00:11:36
But the end of the day, we're here. We want to take off. 00:11:41
Reduce all stress off you guys because you guys obviously have enough to do so. 00:11:44
But at the end of the day. 00:11:49
Like I said, we're committed to customers. We want bigger. We're going to do what it takes before I open this up for questions. 00:11:51
Yes, Sir. 00:11:56
One of the things that. 00:11:58
I mean, I'll look at this. OK, so. 00:12:00
Just briefly. 00:12:02
I don't know how many people that are watching and everybody here, you're part of this. 00:12:03
That you guys have your meeting, your team meetings, and you decide. 00:12:08
We're going to Tuscaloosa and we're going to these neighborhoods, yes. 00:12:11
Then. 00:12:15
You're going to have a pre meeting with the HOA's if there is one, or. 00:12:16
Information is going to be given to those neighborhoods to say. 00:12:21
We're coming. 00:12:25
To your neighborhood, I see the marketing group's going to do this, and then you're going to notify the city of Tuscaloosa 2 00:12:26
weeks. 00:12:30
Prior to construction, which? 00:12:34
I think that's a really, really big. 00:12:36
Big point in this because once that happens, then I want to hear what Lou was going to do, but I'm assuming Lua and and her team 00:12:39
are going to take that information and we're going to get that information out. 00:12:44
To us, where we know in our districts we could post on social media, we could do any of these things that we do. 00:12:50
That, that 31 ones prepared for this, two that we know they're coming to the North River, whatever, whatever's going on, that's 00:12:57
been one of the, yeah, problem areas in my district, right? Yes. 00:13:01
But I think the communication part of this. 00:13:07
When something blows up or something has happened. 00:13:10
That's kind of been to me where the most problem has been because. 00:13:13
Every, I mean, life is full of problems and you know that we talked about this a million times, but I think it's more about how we 00:13:18
deal with it, how we respond to it and people feeling. 00:13:22
Confident. 00:13:27
That. 00:13:29
I'm gonna be able to get some help and I think for the most part that's happy. 00:13:30
Right and. 00:13:35
But I think these kind of things are important there because I mean it's. 00:13:37
I mean, I don't think it's in y'all's best there. It's not good for y'all though. Bad reputation with these guys, with like, you 00:13:42
know, some of the problems we've had to deal with so many, it's in y'all's interest. 00:13:47
And I think y'all want to do the right thing, yeah, because we've met multiple times. 00:13:52
So. 00:13:56
If you you want to address a little bit that Lula can before I open this up for questions, but sure this looks like a very good 00:13:57
listening. 00:14:00
A process to me. 00:14:04
Of what should be happening? 00:14:06
Alright, so so we'll submit this. 00:14:08
You will it. It will stay in the engineering department's office. 00:14:10
This, this, this checklist will follow every project OK? 00:14:14
So. 00:14:18
But what we do, Obviously we come through canvas. 00:14:19
We let we let the engineering department know. 00:14:23
You know, two weeks prior. 00:14:25
Notify the HOA. 00:14:27
Which if it's, you know, if we can, which we we if we do our best to do that now. 00:14:30
So do you know who the HOA? So we have to do a lot of legwork. And so along those lines I'm gonna wait till you open it up. And 00:14:34
Mr. Busby jumped in so I'm gonna jump in. In my in my district there, there are not a lot of HOA. So how will those? 00:14:42
Residents in my district who perhaps live in neighborhoods. 00:14:51
Have a a pre construction meeting. 00:14:55
To discuss what's going to be happening. OK, so. 00:14:59
If we OK this is how this works so. 00:15:02
We notify. 00:15:06
The engineering department, these are our projects that we're coming up. We're going to act on and move on, OK. 00:15:08
Obviously. 00:15:13
The engineering department say, OK, that's in Councilman, someone says. 00:15:14
District. 00:15:18
He'll notify. Miss Lewington will notify. 00:15:20
Ohh. 00:15:23
The. 00:15:25
Who said Councilman in that area? 00:15:25
That's that's kind of how we try to work it so. 00:15:27
That's that's how we get the heads up. And then then the Flyers and the canvases. 00:15:30
Will come out and actually it's door. 00:15:35
You know, we, we, we door knocked. And flowers when they're out. Those guys are out today. 00:15:37
So. 00:15:43
But that's that's how we'll handle that. 00:15:44
Going forward? 00:15:46
Going forward, typically if there's no HOA, we try to get in there and find somebody usually governs the neighborhood or. 00:15:48
The spokesperson for the neighborhood, you know. 00:15:55
So if they own their homes, then you may be something related. 00:15:59
How we find that out we? 00:16:04
Door knock and ask a few people and say, oh you need to speak to so and so. 00:16:06
So that that that's kind of how we. 00:16:09
How we find them so? 00:16:12
But but anyway. 00:16:16
The process you know two weeks prior to construction then we'll. 00:16:18
You know. 00:16:21
There were 811 or utility locates. 00:16:22
Ohh. 00:16:25
And also we'll have signage posted in the neighborhood like we do now. 00:16:26
With that same 582 number. 00:16:29
It's a, it's a direct call into our call center over in Mississippi. 00:16:32
Ohh. 00:16:36
Call it on how many times You might wait 5 seconds before my picks it up, but it's it's usually pretty fast. 00:16:37
So. 00:16:43
And you know, then we have our safety practices. They were in the field. 00:16:46
Any issues, you know we're residents if you see on there that that. 00:16:50
Ohh. 00:16:55
Someone has an issue or whatever, you know we have a. 00:16:56
Construction supervisor. 00:16:59
We also have a. 00:17:01
On site inspector so we have two means of communication. 00:17:04
To to to address things like this so. 00:17:09
Just and then at the end of day they'll come to me if it's if it's not addressed, I'll get a call from Lewis and there. 00:17:12
Issue here or? 00:17:18
So on and so forth, which we really jump on. 00:17:20
And then we get after. 00:17:23
As quick as we can. 00:17:24
Most of them. Most of them. If we know if we get through the ticketing session we can get them within 24 hours. Most. 00:17:25
Somewhere along that we don't know about. 00:17:31
So, but if we know about it, we act. We're trying to act. 00:17:34
So. 00:17:38
Question. Other questions? 00:17:40
Can I ask one one question because I'm I'm Scott Holmes. I'm City Attorney. Other than other than probably Leo. When this becomes 00:17:42
a problem for for these gentlemen, it becomes a problem for me. Can we please make sure that the OSCE? 00:17:50
Has up that date and correct information about 3 ish weeks or a month or so ago. I got a call from from Councilman Tyner. People 00:17:58
were concerned obviously. 00:18:03
Most citizens don't understand, you know the 1st 8 feet or so or or not. There you are and so they get concerned if somebody in it 00:18:08
doing something. 00:18:12
And and so I went out to to just see what was going on. I called Louis to find out if it was you guys, because I will admit, you 00:18:17
guys get blamed for for other people that work. 00:18:23
Umm. 00:18:28
And to find out what y'all were doing. And initially all we're we're potholing is the information we had. 00:18:29
And and so I I'm not an engineer. I I don't know what potholing is. 00:18:35
And and so when I got there I called you and said hey look what's potholing and and and there were a bunch of guys doing a bunch 00:18:40
of things that were far more than polling. So if if, if we tell, if we tell a resident hey they're just putting a little hole in 00:18:46
your yard to make sure they don't hit anything in the residence looking at somebody standing up to their shoulders in a 4 by 4 00:18:51
hole. 00:18:57
That gets us in a bind. 00:19:03
The only complaints I've had. 00:19:08
And had been a lot of recent but. 00:19:10
People not knowing you're coming. I know now you. 00:19:13
I don't know what y'all have done in the past. 00:19:16
But they didn't know you were coming, didn't know what it was all about. 00:19:18
And to walk outside in the morning and. 00:19:22
All these flags in the yard and they didn't know where they came from. 00:19:25
And again, as they said, they might not be you, but I think it works. 00:19:28
Problem. 00:19:31
And. 00:19:32
Just let people know the communication issues, the big deal. 00:19:34
And and if you're going to tear their yard up. 00:19:37
Explain to him why you're not going to fix it tomorrow. 00:19:40
If you could. 00:19:44
You know. 00:19:45
Just jumping a little bit, that's another fine counselor that we have been working on. Specifically in the meeting with Counselor 00:19:49
Crow, we requested that ceasefire broke Break the. 00:19:54
What they call restoration process, which is when they start fixing and finishing up and putting down salt and all that. 00:20:00
We requested that in as much as possible, break the process into little phase instead of waiting to go through the entire 00:20:07
neighborhood. 00:20:11
And then? 00:20:15
And I know that's not always possible, but they. 00:20:16
They. 00:20:19
Hope they compromise here and. 00:20:20
To meet us halfway and they're trying to the best of their ability to work like that. So whatever can be fixed on the way as they 00:20:22
go. That's the approach we're trying to take at this point. 00:20:28
Because we all agree that it's no fun to have. 00:20:34
Your yard. 00:20:38
Terror. 00:20:40
Apart for the entirety of the project and they are aware of that and that's the part that we have been. 00:20:41
Trying to find little solutions that works best for the citizens and forces fire and for us. 00:20:47
As a whole, but I just wanted to put it out there. It's part of the new. 00:20:54
Management program that they are presenting today in in in. 00:20:58
Typically we try to. 00:21:04
Try to hold the major restoration off to the end of the project because we had to revisit some locations a couple of times. 00:21:06
So. 00:21:12
What happens is what's really important in the box is in, but some phases we have to jump back and forth. 00:21:13
Want to do that restoration with one time but. 00:21:20
With this new application that we're coming out, I think it's going, I think it's going to help out a whole lot with that that we 00:21:24
can. 00:21:26
That we can get some self completed some of the restorations as we move through the project. 00:21:30
So. 00:21:34
But if you can, and I tell residents. 00:21:35
Couple days ago I was in a neighborhood. We did. 00:21:40
Month and a half ago, you can't even tell. 00:21:43
You have to really. 00:21:46
Dig down and look to see. 00:21:47
And I think we're probably 9 projects since January in the city. 00:21:49
I mean, sure, you probably go find something that you really look, but I mean. 00:21:54
About 30 days goes by. 00:21:59
Everything started grinding back up. You don't even know where. 00:22:01
So. 00:22:05
But we address things. 00:22:05
I mean we're we're all the time reoccurring. 00:22:09
Did the settlement. 00:22:12
Whether you know. 00:22:13
We we're all the time having to go repack or retail or refill something. 00:22:15
Daily. 00:22:18
So, but we do follow up. 00:22:20
Let me. 00:22:24
They're not. 00:22:25
I have. I have so chilled today and calmed down from a few weeks ago because I absolutely had the worst experience. 00:22:26
But I feel like. 00:22:37
Because it was absolutely horrible. 00:22:38
What the neighborhoods have experienced because of Ceasar, and that was bad. 00:22:42
But it's starting a lower nose. Lord, how many times did we talk? 00:22:48
And then? 00:22:52
My phone never stopped and I've still got the trail of. 00:22:53
Neighborhood Facebook pages and. 00:22:57
Not good. 00:22:59
And it started with the flags. 00:23:01
That were everywhere and nobody was notified. There was no. 00:23:03
Door to door. There was no door hangers. 00:23:07
Or any of that stuff. 00:23:10
Scott went out a couple of times. 00:23:12
What? 00:23:14
And I'm not going to go back, Look, it's it's behind now, but. 00:23:16
It was horrible. 00:23:20
I mean, I I I couldn't get any peace. 00:23:21
All the complaints. 00:23:24
Means your drive is one of the worst. 00:23:26
And then, but to your guys's credit. 00:23:28
He came back. 00:23:32
And cleaned it up. Amazing. 00:23:34
But it wasn't that way. And and and then the. 00:23:37
You know, probably. 00:23:43
I'm not actually. I'm not gonna go through all of them because I've I've got them all if he likes. 00:23:46
You like to see them, but it it was just it was horrible. 00:23:50
I'll just say we had those water line hits. 00:23:54
The water line hits and then the open pit. 00:23:57
In front of 1 home that wasn't. 00:24:00
Any warning? Any types? Any comes around? 00:24:03
Parking equipment and people's yards. Big equipments without, you know, they're just. 00:24:06
Those types of things to me, were just inexcusable. 00:24:10
And. 00:24:13
But. 00:24:15
So, and I think my neighborhood's the last one. You know, if it started Grove, I'm dreading. 00:24:16
I'm right next to Windsor. Dr. Ohh. Yeah, Ohh. 00:24:24
Because I don't know if they've been. I can take it because it was really bad there and and I'm glad to see this well. I just wish 00:24:27
it had been. 00:24:31
I think before. 00:24:36
We use so so. 00:24:38
Back last summer we removed some contract. 00:24:42
OK. 00:24:45
And this is the same contract that we have now. 00:24:46
The complete. 00:24:49
Seven or eight projects we've had. 00:24:52
The one instance about. 00:24:57
That was a mistake. I'll take ownership of that. 00:25:00
It was a look you're gonna have, Yeah. You know, and I really, I realize it's a it's it's in the very invasive. 00:25:03
Right. And you're gonna have problems, but. 00:25:10
Lord, I trust me. 00:25:13
I was on the phone through the whole process and everything, so I really was. So I don't want you to think that you were alone 00:25:15
with that. But anyway. 00:25:19
But moving forward I I think with a new application coming out. 00:25:26
Next year. 00:25:29
Where we were in this this design. 00:25:31
And. 00:25:34
So we're trying to go. 00:25:35
Chris. 00:25:36
Areas and. 00:25:37
Taking on this new design, you know one one of the things you're battling now? 00:25:40
Ohh. 00:25:44
Because everybody says ohh God if they're not coming. 00:25:46
And and that's. 00:25:50
That's not good. 00:25:51
With that saying. 00:25:54
And I I do want to bring this up. 00:25:57
But. 00:26:02
As far as infrastructure build. 00:26:03
In the city communication. 00:26:05
Trying to build or trying to. 00:26:10
You know, implement fiber optic. 00:26:12
Network. 00:26:14
Long time. 00:26:17
Our growth, communication growth. 00:26:21
I'm just so I'm just. 00:26:24
I was just gonna say for the sake of simplicity, we've got. 00:26:27
Beyond this, yeah, moving forward, conversations, we've got to have to stop. 00:26:30
We need you to do a really good job. Get it installed. No more customer compliance, no more on. 00:26:34
Towards their areas. 00:26:40
You want that? We want that. Make yourselves do it. 00:26:41
We keep having this conversation. Everyone's trying to dance around. I'm just going to be blunt. We need these problems solved 00:26:46
because constituents are calling us daily about it. 00:26:51
We want you to be successful. 00:26:58
But you gotta hold up your end of the bargain. No more water lines being disturbed. 00:27:00
Let's get it done right. Hold yourselves to account. 00:27:05
And let's move past it where you can go make a lot of money and our citizens can get high, you know access to to fiber that's 00:27:09
going to get them high speed Internet. 00:27:12
Let's do it. 00:27:19
Yeah. 00:27:22
We lost some lights in Woodland Forest for about a week. 00:27:25
Through some of this water, but I think Darren started coming up here. 00:27:29
Well, what? 00:27:35
But I know problems are going to happen. I think the issue. 00:27:36
To the mayor's point is, sometimes it's how you handle it. 00:27:39
But. But I still think some of this stuff, Darren. 00:27:42
We talked about a long time ago and I think. 00:27:45
If these things are implemented, I think we're going to have a different outcome. 00:27:48
There's going to be problems. 00:27:53
Right. 00:27:55
But, but I think the the the way people aren't notified and how a lot of that was handled I think has been the whole. 00:27:56
Problem. 00:28:03
Started this several months ago so. 00:28:05
One one of the world. And that's why it was so frustrating for me because we had had this same conversation months ago. Yeah, and 00:28:06
the exact same things have been happening. 00:28:11
My neighborhood. 00:28:16
And you know, Saturday morning when someone calls, it just hit the sewer line. 00:28:17
And they got a four year old birthday party with. 00:28:21
25 little 4 year olds come in no place to party, you know? I mean, that's a problem. 00:28:23
What do? Do you have anything else to say? 00:28:31
Well, Sir. 00:28:34
I can't say that as far as the job we've. 00:28:35
Internally in the city of Tuscaloosa, OSI, we try to. 00:28:38
Through our very best to serve our citizens and whenever anybody called 311, we call back as soon as possible. And Darren? 00:28:42
It picks up every time, so I'll give him that. He's responsive to our calls. 00:28:51
And try to. 00:28:56
Figure out immediately and when he. 00:28:58
For any reason you know I feel like this is taking too long. We drive there selves. 00:29:00
And we tell him what's going on. You know, we we we have been teaming up. That's the part that I want to make it clear that we 00:29:05
have been working on the community communication aspect and teaming up with Ceasefire to the best of our abilities to. 00:29:12
Serve everybody to make sure that everybody. 00:29:20
Got their problem solved. 00:29:22
As soon as possible. 00:29:24
And the 205-582-1009 is there first point of contact which is their call center. 00:29:25
And I would like if possible when people call 311, if they already called Ceasefire, if they can make that very clear that will 00:29:35
help us getting a feedback to know if it's inspiring or responding within the 24 hours that. 00:29:42
They. 00:29:49
Said they would, or if it's a lack of the a gap in the communication that they are not. 00:29:50
Being able to reach out to ceasefire altogether for any reason. 00:29:56
That's. 00:30:01
As we as we kind of wrap this up. 00:30:02
The big hair on fire problem in my district up at North River was on battle. 00:30:04
Driver we. 00:30:09
OK. Then do you want to comment on that fire reported that complete, but all that they're calling now? 00:30:11
Yes. 00:30:19
The. 00:30:20
Where we we report the concrete gutter. 00:30:22
Support asphalt. 00:30:27
Just. 00:30:32
Plus, some saw along the homeowner happy. 00:30:33
We've talked to her a couple times, yeah. 00:30:37
But. 00:30:39
Yeah, we, yeah, we have to work through the rain over there. 00:30:41
I've got some real good calls about that. 00:30:45
Ohh really? I'm sure you have to. 00:30:47
Yeah. 00:30:50
Yes. 00:30:52
This is. 00:30:53
Thank you. 00:30:55
Thank you for coming. Thank. 00:30:55
Is there any other business to be brought before the committee today? 00:30:58
If not, I would entertain a motion to adjourn. So move. 00:31:04
Seconded, our next. 00:31:08
Projects committee meeting will be next Tuesday, August 15th at 2:30 of course. 00:31:09
All in favor, Say aye, Aye. 00:31:15
We are adjourned. 00:31:18

help us getting a feedback to know if it's inspiring or responding within the 24 hours that. 00:29:42
